| Meet the Second Grade Team! | | There are three second grade classrooms at Roosevelt. The second grade teachers are a talented group who are dedicated to helping all children succeed.
Core subjects of math, writing, spelling, grammar, social studies, and reading are taught by classroom teachers. The students are broken into small groups for 90 minutes per day for SFA reading classes. Students receive instruction from classroom teachers, ELL teachers, or literacy specialists for SFA reading. Students also receive small group writing instruction for 60 minutes per day in the classroom and in ELL classes. Students attend specialist classes for 50 minutes per day to receive instruction in music, gym, science, and media.

 | | | | | | Read, Read, Read! | | Our Success For All (SFA) reading program requires that each child reads at home with an adult for 20 minutes each night. Reading and discussing books at home with your child provides him/her with a wealth of background knowledge and helps to improve your child's reading skills greatly. Please take time out of your busy schedule each day to sit down with your child and read. It is a great way to spend quality time together! |
